Volkswagen ID.3 Neo: Price, Range and Everything You Need to Know
Volkswagen’s popular electric hatchback has been given a major overhaul, with a better interior, new batteries and up to 390 miles of range.
Volkswagen has launched the new ID.3 Neo in the UK. It replaces the original ID.3 and brings a redesigned interior, updated tech, new battery options and a big jump in range, with the largest battery good for up to 390 miles on a single charge.
It goes head to head with electric hatchbacks such as the Kia EV3, Hyundai Kona Electric and BYD Dolphin.

A cleaner new look
The overall shape will be familiar, but the Neo looks sharper. A full-width light bar now links the headlights, and higher-spec models get an illuminated VW badge. The black roof and tailgate of the old car have gone, which gives it a smoother, more grown-up appearance.
The new look is part of Volkswagen's 'Pure Positive' design language, which will also feature on upcoming ID models.
Physical buttons are back
The biggest change is inside. Volkswagen listened to owners of the original ID.3 and has gone for a more conventional, better-quality cabin.
There's a digital driver's display and a larger central touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Most importantly, proper physical buttons have returned below the screen and on the steering wheel, replacing the touch-sensitive controls that frustrated plenty of drivers.
You also get extra storage, wireless phone charging and a rotary volume control. And for a bit of fun, there's a selectable retro display inspired by the dials of the original Golf.

Range: up to 390 miles
There are three battery sizes:
The two smaller batteries use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, while the 79kWh battery uses nickel manganese cobalt (NMC). In simple terms, you can choose between a lower price and more range depending on how far you drive.
Charging
The 50kWh battery can rapid charge at up to 100kW, the 58kWh at up to 105kW and the 79kWh at up to 183kW. Volkswagen quotes the following 10 to 80% charging times:
All versions support 11kW AC charging at home or work.
