Jaguar has revealed the production version of the Type 01, the car that kicks off its reinvention as an all-electric luxury brand.
It's the most powerful Jaguar ever made, and it's being designed, engineered and built in the UK.

A completely new Jaguar
The Type 01 is the first car built on Jaguar's new electric platform, rather than adapted from an existing petrol or Land Rover model. That's allowed the designers to create something very different from the Jaguars of recent years.

Bold by design
At more than 5.2 metres long, the Type 01 is a long, low four-door GT with a dramatic sloping roofline. The front has slim lights and almost no grille.
There's no rear window at all. Instead, a camera projects the view behind onto a screen. It's a bold design, and Jaguar knows it will divide opinion.

Performance
The Type 01 produces 757kW (1,015bhp) and 1,365Nm of torque, enough for 0 to 62mph in a claimed 3.2 seconds.
Despite those numbers, Jaguar describes it as a grand tourer built for comfortable long-distance driving. Adaptive air suspension, four-wheel steering and 50:50 weight distribution are all part of the package.

Range and charging
A 118kWh battery and 850-volt electrical system give a target WLTP range of up to around 450 miles, though the final figure is still to be confirmed. At sustained motorway speeds, Jaguar expects around 320 miles.
Very low drag helps: Jaguar quotes a drag coefficient of just 0.23.

Inside
A central spine runs the length of the cabin, creating individual spaces for each occupant. The driver gets a 24-inch OLED display, with a smaller 7-inch screen between the front seats.

Built in Britain
Production takes place at JLR's Solihull plant. The electric drive units and battery packs come from Wolverhampton, and the body panels are pressed at Halewood on Merseyside.
